A Night of Flames in Davao City

Last night, a terrifying blaze erupted just a short distance from my apartment in Davao City. A good view from my small terrace. I ran to my camera and I watched the flames rapidly ascend, casting a dark, ominous cloud of smoke into the night sky. The sound of approaching emergency vehicles filled the air, but by the time they arrived, the fire had already grown much larger, threatening the densely packed neighborhood.

In Davao City, many homes are constructed on stilts, using inexpensive materials. These houses are tightly clustered, standing side by side, which makes them highly susceptible to fire. This unfortunate reality became all too clear as the flames quickly spread from one house to another, feeding off the proximity and flammable materials.

Fires are devastating and can destroy everything valuable in our homes. This serves as a reminder to exercise caution and be mindful of our actions. Here are my tips for fire prevention:

  • Never leave a lit candle unattended.
  • Keep matches, lighters, and other fire starters out of children’s reach.
  • Do not allow smoking inside your home.
  • Fire insurance is a must to have in case things happen like this. We still can rebuild back our home.

Do you have some ideas to share about fire prevention? Please help me with a comment. Thank you.
