Reconnecting With My Youthful Days on a Bus Ride

It has been maybe 20 years since the last time I took a bus ride in the Philippines. I went to visit a friend about 3 hours from the city of Davao. I took the bus to bring back some memories I had when I was a teenager in this city.

So I hop on into the bus. Good thing there is a social distancing implemented still at this time.

In the Philippines, there are 3 men or sometimes women who work on the bus. The driver, the conductor (the one who issues ticket fares), and the checker.

The conductor has issued me the ticket. it was PHP 53 pesos. I was alone in my row, so it was comfortable and the bus is fully airconditioned too.

The bus assistant issued me a ticket for my bus fare. My bus fare cost me PHP 53 pesos from Davao city to Panabo City here in Mindanao.

Many buses from the capital city of Mindanao operate from the Ecoland Bus terminal and travel to many other cities in Mindanao, like Digos, Cagayan De Oro City, Surigao, and many others cities in Mindanao.

There aren’t many changes I would say since the last time I took a bus ride in the Philippines. It was still the same way, the conductor issues me the ticket, collects my fare in cash and there are no other means of payment but only cash.

Have a pick of Davao City's surroundings. The video below was created back in the year 2020.

Do you know that Davao City is the largest city in the world by land area? According to Wikipedia, Davao city encompasses more than six times the size of Metro Manila ( the capital city of the Philippines and Luzon) and three times the size of Metro Cebu (the Capital city of Visayas).

I hope you get some idea about Davao City and Mindanao here in the Philippines with this short article today.
