Though Singapore has Iconic buildings like Marina Bay Sand, the Garden City still conserves and protects the 2 or 3 story shophouses. Which today, can cost you few millions Singapore dollars if you want to buy one.

An estimated 8700 shophouses buildings in Singapore conserve by the (URA) Urban Redevelopment Authority gazetted as Conservation Properties

According to URA, Shophouses in Singapore were constructed between the 1840s and the 1960s, these shophouses formed the majority of the pre-World War 2 urban fabric of the old city center as well as several other parts of Singapore. Source
